Babies have it sooo good. Chubby babies are super cute, thick thighs are applauded, sleeping all day makes their mommies happy, AND when it’s picture time.. the more their skin is peeling the better! Photographers LIKE their rotten bellybutton thing to still be hanging around! Why would anyone want to grow up anyways?!

This sweet little mr. set a new record in my studio. Not ONCE did he dirty my blankets (like all other newborns do). Getting pooped on is part of the newborn photographer’s job, but this sweet little man kept his business in check. I was floored.

Having 4 sisters is the greatest thing in the world! I understand Michael Scott when he wanted 100 kids so he could have 100 friends. Sisters are kinda like build in girl friends right?! When we moved to Austin almost 2 years ago we knew 2 of my sisters were moving to Texas just 3 months after we moved! What are the chances?!

Since Laura is just 1.5 hours away in Waco, I haven’t missed much snuggle time with her newest addition.

Last weekend my Dad and another sister came into town at the same time, so sweet Calvin was given a name and a blessing at our church. We were so happy to have almost ALL our family in TEXAS!!

Every time we are in Waco for church it seems the clouds smile down on us and we have great lighting for some candid family pics. With everyone already in Sunday’s best we often take advantage.

Exhibit b: (last Easter)

Despite all the negatives you’ve heard about Waco it really is a quaint, little Texan city. I’ve got a family shoot all planned out in my brain for Waco come Halloween. It’s coming up!!

And one last image of my sweet new nephew.

I am loving the hours I’m sharing with brand new babes. They are so amazing.

This little girl finally got tired of her paparazzi. “Just stop already!!!” she screamed!

But before that she was so, so perfect.

I am excited to begin a new chapter in my photography!! When we moved to our new house is Austin I was looking for a specific house.. one with a bedroom downstairs. Not to escape the 2am bad dream come get in my bed visits, not to have a place for visiting family but to have somewhere to keep our homeschooling stuff. (there is a lot of STUFF that comes with homeschooling) This next year our family has the awesome opportunity to attend a new classical academy which is opening in our area, which means I get that WHOLE glorious room to house my photography equipment! Studio lighting is something I dabbled with as I’ve shot weddings, taking lighting along with me to shoots, but now having a room totally dedicated to studio work makes me a happy girl!

Here’s the direction I’m going with studio sessions:

I LOVE children sessions with neutrals and textures to make the baby the main focus :)) Can’t wait to show you more!

Taking pictures of newborns is kind of like having one of your own. You get peed on, you soak in their newborn smell, you wash their poop off your blankets… BUT no one woke me up last night.

Funny thing is, if you really know me.. even when I have a newborn, they don’t wake me up at night. Lee wakes up when our babies cry in the night and then has to WAKE ME UP to get up and take care of them.

I’m kind of a heavy sleeper. I always have the best sleeping babies… but maybe that’s just because I don’t hear them crying :/ hmmmm.

Here are two babies that are in my life right now. I don’t schedule newborn shoots. I don’t have the time to commit to them right now, but aren’t they so delightful?!
